Basketball with Elisa

Elisa wanted to play basketball this weekend. She's been getting into it recently; playing it after school and maybe she has a crush on a boy. We decide to play on Sunday, 10am. We walk 10 minutes to where they have some courts under a tent but the courts are being used by some organized practice until noon. We come back at noon and pay the equivalent of $20 USD for two hours on the court. On the way over I had told Elisa that at her age we could play school courts for as long we wanted but the school courts are locked in Beijing and I guess even now in the US.

Elisa has grown a lot in the past year. She has enough strength to shot and truth be told she has some ability to put the ball into the basket. She can dribble decently and when making a move to the basket always attacks to her right. I try to teach her a few things. How to score over a taller defender. How to stand and move on defense. We play round the world, 21, and pig. At 1:15pm, I was ready to go home and told her I needed a break. She said, go right ahead I'm going to keep shooting.

Yang and Lydia walked over; Yang's way to get Lydia some sunshine. The watched for a bit and took some incriminating photos. We finished up and headed home. To our two homes actually, spaced a floor apart. On the way back Lydia's legs gave out like they've been doing recently. She gets up pretty quickly. Elisa walked the rest of the way home arm and arm with Lydia.

What's been going on with Lydia has been hard on Elisa, that's for sure. Lydia was the magic power older sister for the longest time. Now she needs magic. Elisa helping where she can and taking her own shot when she needs too. Go ahead, rest, I'm going to keep shooting.
