Some notes

Elisa comes out of her room. Stops. Looks at the TV. Feigns despair and says "still?" referring to the 254-214 electoral college score. Then she asks why and she understands but doesn't understand why on the third day the score is the same.

Back in February when covid hadn't really hit the states and causing measures here to get it under control, Sabrina and I moved. We moved one floor up from Yang's apartment in order to provide more support for the kids who were going through some hard times. Because no outside people were technically allowed into the complex we moved from or two we had to sneak the movers in and move things quickly.

The kid situation before we moved was simple. When they were in school, they would alternate weeks between Yang's apartment and mine. When school was off, they would come over after school on Friday and spend the weekends with me. That had its benefits. I really liked taking care of them. I missed them every time they were gone; at the same time the absense of responsiblity was nice. Now they are pretty much always around going between the apartments as they wish. Lydia and Aidan keep their room in Yang's apartment. Elisa mostly sleeps in our apartment but not always.

I typically get home from work by 7pm and on most nights Lydia is sitting on the coach waiting for me and Elisa is in her room doing homework or making her slime. I cook dinner for myself, typically air fried chicken or salmon over veggies. Then Lydia and I watch an episode of TV. The last show we got through was High Fidelity. We started Better Call Saul but she found it too stressful. After the show we take Kobe for a walk sometimes stopping at Starbucks so Lydia can get a hot milk to go. We talk a lot and enjoy each other's humor. Recently she's been getting sad all of a sudden most nights either before or after the walk. I feel lucky to have all this time with her.

Before school started Aidan would join on these walks and before that it was just me and Aidan. Now Aidan is distracted being 17. Girls or a specific girl. Studies. Partying. He seems to be taking more responsibility for his results which is positive. Either that or he's learned to say what people want to hear. He's wanted for some time to go to college outside of China but now isn't so sure. I'll be happy if he gets into a good school and takes it seriously.

Elisa had a big change shifting to a western style of education and more western students in middle school. She is social and wants to be some kind of performer. She's in a weekend class that teachers her singing, dancing, and acting. Not sure where she got those genes.

Sabrina and I started hiking on the weekends taking Kobe, at least for the past three weekends. It's been good for us. Lydia joined us last weekend and wants to join next weekend too. I've been in a bit of a rut at work. Putting in the reps. Treating it like the gym but not really into it.
