I am pushing Elisa in her stroller when I notice her head leaning to the right. I sneak a look at her face and see her eyes closed. Nap time. I keep pushing her to Lido Park where I prop the stroller flat and let her sleep. I stand and listen to podcasts all the while thinking this is the last spring I will be doing this with her. With any child. Until maybe our kids have kids of their own.
After Elisa wakes up we head to the bigger park, Side Park and the playground there. This was our ritual on many spring and summer days last year and it feels nice to be doing it again. Families are all around with multiple adults for each kid. Plants and trees are blossoming, it is a warm spring day. Having a very light touch of snow less than a week ago the warmth of the midday sun melts the harshest cynics. Elisa climbs and slides for a bit and then wants to draw and go on rides.
It is also Easter. For the third Easter in a row we went to the Element Fresh restaurant around the corner and had an American style breakfast. After breakfast we returned home and then Yang and I hid candy in the courtyard. Aidan and Lydia attacked the candy with a vengeance. Elisa was more selective, only taking M&Ms. After all, she is not lacking candy in her diet.
